ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS
Q. What type of shoes are allowed to be worn?
A. All players should wear athletic tennis shoes with shoelaces. No open toed sandals, boots or any other type of boots are allowed on the courts.
Q. Do I need to provide my own tennis balls?
A. NO, tennis balls will be provided at the start of each match.
Q. How will disputes be handled with scoring, line calls or any other incidents that might occur between players during a match?
A. Players are encouraged to follow tennis standards of etiquette to communicate scores after each and every point scored to reduce the amount of possible mistakes. In the event that two players cannot agree on an issue the tournament will have court “monitors” available to help resolve the issue(s).
Q. My plans have changed and I am unable to participate in the tournament. Will I receive a refund for my registration fee?
A. We are sympathetic to changes in plans, unfortunately as with any event of this type, refunds will NOT be provided for the tennis tournament event taking place on October 14th & 15th, 2023. This is a volunteer driven event and not a money making event and the registration fees are simply to cover event expenses for the tournament. However under extreme circumstances and by presenting your information on your reason(s) to not participate to the Tournament Director assigned to the event will be handled on a case by case basis.
Q. What happens in the event of bad weather?
A. If weather limits play from being started or delays a match that has already started, Players will be notified during the tournament weekend on how, when and where they will resume play or start a delayed match. If weather limits play completely for the Tournament, Players will be notified on new scheduled weekend.
Q. Will water or drinks be available to the competitors?
A. NO. Players need to be responsible to bring their own water to a match. Water fountains are available at the Fall Creek restrooms.
Q. How do I report my scores at the end of my match?
A. At check-in for a match, players will be instructed on what to do after the match has concluded. IMPORTANT: The winning player will be responsible for collecting the balls that were used during the match and returning those balls to the tournament desk and also report match play scores. Failure to do so may result in incorrect results and a players opportunity to advance.
Q. What are the rules for scoring the players match? What is a “8-Game Pro-Set” scoring match?
A. All matches will utilize a“8-game pro-set” score for the match. The winner of a pro-set match is the 1st player and/or team to win 8-games by at least 2 games for the match.
Pro Set Match Example: Player/Team #1 wins 8 games and Player/Team #2 wins 6 games, Player/Team #1 is the winner of the match. During a match normal 40-Ad game scores will be used. In the event that both players/teams are tied at 7-7 games each, then a tiebreaker will be played to determine the winner. The tiebreaker will be the best of 8 points and the winner needs to win by 2-pts.
Q. Who serves first to start a match?
A. Once players/teams arrive on court together to start a match the players/teams will flip a coin or other means ie: twist a racquet head (up-down). The winner of the toss receives the decision to serve first or receive serve first. If winner of the toss chooses to receive serve first, then loser of the toss is allowed to choose which side they will start serve first.
Q. Will my Jr. player or Adult competitor be awarded USTA or UTR ranking points for participation in this event?
A. NO- USTA Points or UTR points will be utilized during the years tennis tournament. As the event grows over the next few seasons our goal will be to Sanction the event to allow for future points or ratings.
Q. How will “seeding” players and teams work in this tournament? Who determines the seeding?
A. Seeding players and/or teams will not be used for the most part in this years tennis tournament. All registered players by division and by event will be bracketed as a total pool. After registration is closed, all players will be placed randomly into the master schedule software. After this is complete the TD does review previous players performance in past events and may alter the software(s) random selections.
Q. What happens if I lose my first match?
A. In all events for both ADULT & JR tournaments, 1st round (lucky losers) will be shifted/transferred into the consolation bracket for their event and will then play a second time. If the player/team loses the second match then the tournament is over for that player/team. If the player/team wins their second match in this bracket then they will continue to play in the consolation bracket until a third place finisher is determined. (No Trophies/Awards will be awarded this year to 3rd place finishers)
Q. I played my first match and won. In my second match I lost will I be transferred to the consolation bracket?

A. NO. Each registered player will receive one t-shirt for the event.
Q. I registered for 2-events (i.e. singles and mixed doubles), will I need to register and pay the registration fee again?
A. NO. This year there is only one (1) fee for the Adult or Junior Event. The GOOD NEWS is a registered player can register to play multiple categories and still only incur one fee. The only rule the tournament will maintain if a registered player decides to play more than one category is no jumping from one level of play to another level of play. For example.
